Performances generally last 15 to 20 minutes, but can be extended or shortened
to suit. The group was formed in Melbourne in 1974, with the aim to retain and perform the traditional folk dances of Holland and to exhibit them here in Australia. Some of these dances date back 200 years. The dancers and costumes mainly come from the County of Twente, which is in the eastern part of Holland. |

Dutch Folk Dancing Group "The Tukkers" consists of six to eight couples wearing
traditional Dutch costumes, including clogs. We perform traditional Dutch folk dances from all over Holland. We have an announcer who talks about the Dutch, e.g. Clogs, Windmills, Tulips etc., and introduces each dance. Music used is traditional. |
